As part of its strategic transport plan, Portsmouth City Council undertook a number of improvements to walkways and cycle paths around the city in order to enable healthier travel choices. The East - West improvements included several projects to improve cycling and walking across Portsmouth.

"The upgrades to the east-west section of the South East Hampshire Rapid Transit scheme is intrinsic to Portsmouth’s ambition to provide safe, alternative transport routes across the city. The complex project, working across multiple sites simultaneously, was aided by crucial safety and engineering support from Attis. This enhanced our own engineers’ capabilities as well as aiding the contractors with pragmatic on-site guidance."
