David England presented to a capacity audience on making risk management more effective and robust. David was appearing in his role as subject matter expert for the National Examination Board for Occupational Safety and Health, a leading global provider of safety qualifications.

Using research from the book Effectively Managing the Case for Safety, the presentation examined how the function of risk assessment is merely a precursor to managing risk – a requirement of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.

Using real life examples and anecdotes from a long career in providing practical safety solutions in a wide range of industries, David showed how a straightforward system of interrogating control measures can provide enhanced levels of assurance that safety is properly maintained. He also demonstrated the many additional benefits of this approach, other than making the workplace safer for everyone.
